LEHIGH OUTLASTS TEMPLE 14-13 IN BASEBALL CHILLER
3.23.04 | Baseball
The Owls (6-6) were led by center fielder John Quigley who had three hits, including his first home run of the season. Jason Connor and Jason Adamek added a pair of hits for Temple in the losing effort. Mike Weckenman added an RBI single in the seventh inning, his 100th hit in an Owl uniform.
Lehigh (10-7) put together a five-run fifth and added three more runs in the sixth to take a 13-9 advantage. Once again, the Owls were hurt by poor pitching and some clutch hitting by the Engineers. The big hit came off the bat of left fielder Dan Russell who doubled in a pair of runs with two outs in the sixth. Jeff Baker followed with a double off of reliever Chris Kurtz to give the Engineers a lead they would never relinquish.
The Owls travel to Villanova tomorrow to take on the Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. and hope to play their home opener on Thursday at Temple's Ambler Field against the University of the Sciences. First pitch is slated also for 3:00 p.m.
