CHRIS KURTZ NAMED ATLANTIC 10 CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Temple starter Chris Kurtz was named Atlantic 10 Conference Pitcher of the Week it was announced this afternoon by the Atlantic 10 Conference. The junior right-hander hails from Richboro, Pennsylvania.
Kurtz, in his final start of the season, pitched a two-hit complete game shutout in the second game of the doubleheader as Temple defeated Fordham, 1-0, at Ambler Field back on May 20. It was the first career shutout by the Bucks County native and the Temple pitching staff's first shutout of the season.
The 6-4 right-hander carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning before surrendering a single to right field. Kurtz allowed just one other hit and did not allow a Ram runner past second base. He struck out four and walked just one while raising his record to a team leading 8-3.
