BASEBALL'S AL ROACH NAMED TO ATLANTIC 10 CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM

NORWICH, CT - Senior leftfielder Al Roach was named to the Atlantic 10's All-Conference First Team in a vote conducted by the conference coaches it was announced by the Atlantic 10 Conference at the A-10 Tournament being held in Norwich, Connecticut.

Roach, who hails from Medford, New Jersey, started and played in all 49 games for Skip Wilson's Temple Owls this past season. He led the Owls in at-bats, runs scored, hits, doubles, total bases and slugging percentage. In addition to his solid perforance with the bat, Roach had a perfect fielding percentage, handling 104 chances in left field without an error.

His team-leading .385 batting average boosted his career batting average from .284 to .319. He finished his career with 166 hits, which places him 18th on the all-time hit list at Temple.

He also took advantage of a strong batting eye this season. Coming into this year, the Shawnee High School graduate walked 36 times in 378 plate appearances. This season the right-handed hitter walked 36 times in just 215 plate appearances.

Roach also led the Owls' with 26 hits, a .361 batting average and nine extra base hits in conference play.
