VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO ALBANY 3-0 TO OPEN AU CLASSIC

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Temple volleyball team lost to Albany 3-0 in the opening game of the AU Classic September 17 on the campus of American University. The game scores were 25-30, 15-30 and 15-30 as the Owls fell to 2-6 on the season.

Senior outside hitter Zhen Jia Liu led Temple with nine kills and was the only Owl to approach double figures in kills as they hit just .110 as a team during the match. Senior setter Alison Runk managed just 16 assists for Temple, her lowest assist total of the season.

Ashley Hunter and Shelby Goldman led Albany (5-4)with 10 kills apiece. Setter Blair Buchanan had a match-high 33 assists. Albany hit .298 for the match.

The Owls return to action on September 18 as play continues in the AU Classic. Temple will face Arizona at 2:00 p.m. and battle host American at 7:00 p.m.
