VOLLEYBALL SPLITS MATCHES ON DAY TWO OF FAIRFIELD FALL CLASSIC

FAIRFIELD, CONN. - After capturing a thrilling 3-2 victory over New Hampshire in its first action of the afternoon, the Temple volleyball team fell to host Fairfield, 3-1 to close out the Fairfield Fall Classic. Game scores of the New Hampshire match were 25-30, 23-30, 30-14, 33-31 and 15-12. Games scores of the Fairfield match were 25-30, 31-29, 24-30 and 30-32.
The Owls had a quartet of double-figure kill performers against New Hampshire, led by Zhen Jia Liu who notched 17 kills. Danielle Bablich (15 kills), Ying Sun Ling (13 kills) and Christina DeMarco (11 kills) also played well for Temple. Setter Alison Runk had a match-high tying 43 assists.
Erin Walker had a match-high 18 kills for New Hampshire and was joined with double figures in that category by Emmy Blouin (13 kills) and Natasha Otte (10 kills).
In the nitecap, Liu and Bablich led the Owls with 14 kills apiece while Runk, who was the only Temple player named to the all-tournament team, recorded a match-high 48 assists and also had 10 digs.
Jazmin Pa'akaula led Fairfield with a match-high 24 kills and added 20 digs. Lindsey Lee (19 kills), Casey Machon (11 kills) and Kelly Oliver (10 kills) also posted double digit kill numbers.
Temple (3-10) will return to McGonigle Hall for the first time in 24 days when it hosts Rutgers on Tuesday, September 28. Match time is 7:00 p.m.
