VOLLEYBALL LOSES HEARTBREAKER TO RUTGERS 3-2

PHILADELPHIA - On a stormy night in Philadelphia, the Temple volleyball team did not quite have enough to weather the storm against Rutgers as it fell to the Scarlet Knights, 3-2 on September 28 at McGonigle Hall. The game scores were 23-30, 30-27, 31-29, 27-30 and 15-8.
Senior Zhen Jia Liu led the Owls (3-11) with 24 kills. Ying Sun Ling (15 kills) Danielle Bablich (13 kills) and Christina DeMarco (11 kills) helped paced the Temple offensive effort. Setter Alison Runk had 50 assists for the Owls.
Stephanie Travioli led Rutgers (10-3) with a match-high 26 kills. She was joined in double figures by Dawn Christjaener (17 kills) and Lora Yankauskas (16 kills). Setter Abbey Martin had 59 assists for the Scarlet Knights.
Next up for the Owls, a trip to Pittsburgh to face Duquesne in Temple's first Atlantic 10 Conference match of the season on Friday, October 1. Match time is 7:00 p.m.
