VOLLEYBALL STRUGGLES IN DAY TWO OF HAMPTON INN/KAEPA TEMPLE VOLLEYBALL CLASSIC

Sophomore Linsey Morningstar led the Owls with 10 kills against Western Michigan while senior Zhen Jia Liu led Temple with nine kills and 12 digs against North Carolina. Senior setter Alison Runk had 17 assists against the Broncos and 25 assists against the Tar Heels. The Owls are now 0-3 on the season.
Shaylen Jackson led Western Michigan with a match-high 15 kills while Tinesha Tierney added 10. Setter Jessica Holly had a match-high 31 assists for the Broncos.
Meg Eckert led North Carolina with a match-high 10 kills. Setter Norma Cortez had a match-high 31 assists for the Tar Heels.
Morningstar was named to the All-Tournament team along with Jackson of Western Michigan; Amy Wright of North Carolina; Amy Beaver of North Carolina, Stacey Gordon of Ohio State and Marisa Main of Ohio State.
It will literally be a long road for Temple during the month of September as the Owls will not return to their home nest until Tuesday, September 28. Temple will face its first road opponent on Friday, September 10 when it takes on North Dakota State in the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Amerihost Classic. Match time is set for 5:00 p.m.
