TEMPLE FENCING TEAM UNDEFEATED AT JOHNS HOPKINS

BALTIMORE, MD -- The Temple women's fencing team went undefeated this weekend at the Johns Hopkins Tournament improving their record to 13-2 on the season. The five other schools that competed included Haverford, North Carolina, Steven's Institute of Technology, Johns Hopkins, and Drew University.

The Owls defeated Haverford 22-5, North Carolina 20-7, Steven's Institute of Technology 21-6, Johns Hopkins 19-8, and Drew University 18-9.

Four members of the foil squad went undefeated. Senior Jeanne Browne finished 11-0. Junior Jenna Remmert finished 10-0. Sophomore Leigh Adel-Arnold and freshmen Samantha Myles both ended the weekend with a 6-0 record. Also competing in the foil division was Junior Maryanne Forsythe who finished 7-3.

The Epee squad was led by freshman Marla Nacey who was 11-4 on the weekend. Sophomore Rachel Eschenbach finished 8-4. Freshmen Brianna Ferrara and Joanna Drews finished 6-1 and 6-5 respectively.

Senior Nnenna Okoro led the sabre squad with a tournament record of 10-4. Junior Keri Ecker ended the weekend 9-4. Freshman Kristine Jones finished 5-6 and junior Amanda Gerwer finished 3-1. Sophomore Kaitlyn White finished 0-3.

The Owls' next meet will take place this Sunday, February 6th at Temple University in McGonigle Hall. Coach Nikki Franke said she looks forward to this weekend as an opportunity for her team to continue to get stronger.
