WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HOPES TO GET EIGHTH STRAIGHT WIN AGAINST FORDHAM ON SUNDAY AT 2 P.M.

PHILADELPHIA- Temple women's basketball (10-3, 2-0 A-10) hopes to continue on its seven-game winning streak, with a match-up against Fordham (4-10, 0-1 A-10) on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Candice Dupree and Kamesha Hairston each recorded double-doubles to lead Temple to a 72-51 win over the Rhode Island Rams on Friday night at the Ryan Center. Dupree was just three steals shy of a triple double, earning 20 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals, while Hairston garnerned her first career double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Owls, who are currently on a seven-game winning streak, held the Rams to just 35.6% shooting from the field. Ari Moore also netted in double figures, netting 11 points.
Dupree leads the way for TU with 15.8 points and 9.6 rebounds per game to pace three Owls in double figures. She is followed by Cynthia Jordan (12.5 ppg, 3.8 rpg), and Hairston (11.0 ppg, 5.1 rpg). Moore is averaging 6.1 ppg.
The Owls return home to host St. Bonaventure on January 13th, Dawn Staley Day. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
Despite a valiant second half comeback, a career-high 21 points from Jada Jefferson, and 20 points from Monica Mack, the Fordham Rams (4-10) fell to the 25th-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies (11-2), 80-67 on January 6. Vanessa Silva had 14 points and three blocks.
Fordham is led by Silva who is averaging 11.6 ppg, 7.5 rpg and 15 blocks. Mack is a close second with 11.4 ppg and team bests of 41 assists and 23 steals. Jefferson rounds out the double figure scoring with 10.1 points per game.
