10.1.05 | Women's Volleyball
WASHINGTON, D.C-The Temple volleyball team got back on the winning track Saturday evening, defeating A-10 opponent George Washington 3-0 in the Smith Center. The Owls quickly ended the Colonials' hope for their second Conference victory with 30-20, 30-20 and 30-28 wins.
Patricia Vernon led all players with 12 kills, while Christina DeMarco chipped in with 10. Ying Sun Ling and Yue Liu continued to dominate on the defensive end, earning 20 and 13 digs, respectively, while Maira Mogollon dished a match-high 38 assists.
The Owls dominated the Colonials in both hitting percentage and team blocks, hitting .233 for the game as opposed to GW's .044. Temple blocked 12 GW attempted attacks to just two Colonial blocks, thanks in part to DeMarco's match-high four block assists.
Temple returns to action next weekend when it takes on the Rams, traveling to Rhode Island on Friday night for a 7 p.m. game and to Fordham for a 4 p.m. match on Saturday.
