PATRICIA VERNON EARNS SECOND A-10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK AWARD

PHILADELPHIA- After leading Temple to two conference victories over the weekend, freshman outside hitter Patricia Vernon has earned her second Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week honor in the past three weeks. Vernon was also voted the Conference's Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 25.
Vernon helped the Owls to a 2-0 week after averaging 3.62 kills per game on a .383 hitting percentage. She tallied 12 kills with just three errors in a 3-0 sweep over Rhode Island on Friday night and then turned around to earn 17 kills, second-best on the team, with just three errors in Saturday's 3-2 win over Fordham. Vernon also contributed eight blocks (1.0/g), eight digs (1.0/g) and seven assists (0.8/g).
Temple is currently 13-8 and 6-1 in Atlantic 10 play. The team is off until October 21 when it returns home to take on Xavier at 7 p.m. and Dayton on Saturday, October 22 at 4 p.m.
