TEMPLE VOLLEYBALL SHUTS OUT GEORGE WASHINGTON, 3-0

10.28.05 | Women's Volleyball

- The Temple volleyball team completed a season sweep of George Washington, defeating the Colonials, 3-0, on Friday night at McGonigle Hall.  The Owls improve to 15-9 overall and 8-2 in the A-10, while GW falls to 10-14 overall and 3-7 in the Conference.  Game scores were 30-23, 30-21 and 30-21. 

 

Zhen Jia Liu notched the match's only double-double with 11 kills and a match-high 12 digs.  The senior captain had zero errors, earning a .550 hitting percentage.  Patricia Vernon led all players with 13 kills and just one error for a .706 hitting percentage and Ying Sun Ling contributed 11 digs.  Maira Mogollon dished a match-high 35 assists and Linsey Morningstar subbed in to earn 11 assists. 

 

Temple dominated all three games, hitting a combined .465 to the Colonials' .262. 

 
Lindsey Vernand was one of only two Colonials to see double figures, posting 12 kills and just three errors.  Kaimana Lee led GW with 29 assists.

 

Temple continues home play tomorrow with a match against Charlotte, who account for one of the Owls' two conference losses, at 4 p.m.
