VOLLEYBALL WINS THIRD STRAIGHT WITH 3-2 VICTORY OVER FORDHAM

BRONX, N.Y.-Temple (13-8, 6-1 A-10) survived a first-ever loss to the Fordham Rams (13-8, 2-3 A-10), claiming a 3-2 victory over the Rams on Saturday afternoon. Final game scores were 30-24, 21-30, 31-33, 30-28, and 15-9.
After dropping the first game, Fordham came back with a vengeance, hitting .458 as a team, evening the match at one game each. The Rams then took a 2-1 match led with a two-point win, holding Temple to a hitting percentage under .200 for the second straight game.
Temple then regained the momentum, hitting .474 with just two errors to squeak out a two-point win in game four. Fordham tried to regain the edge, going up 8-6 in the fifth and deciding game, but Temple would score nine of the next 10 points to win the game, 15-9.
For Temple, Yue Liu had a double-double with 18 kills and 11 digs to go with four blocks, while Zhen Jia Liu had 16 kills and 14 digs. Patricia Vernon added 17 kills, five assists, and five blocks, with Maira Mogollon having 56 assists and nine digs.
For Fordham, Kealia Ieremia recorded her second triple-double of the year with 10 kills, 51 assists, and 12 digs, while Marija Markovic had a career-high 19 kills to go with nine blocks. Tasha Johnston had a double-double with 12 kills and 18 digs, while Cassie Sharp recorded the same feat with 12 kills and 15 digs. Vanessa Breiwa also added 11 kills and three blocks for Fordham.
The Owls are off until October 21 when they return home to face Xavier at 7 p.m.
