VOLLEYBALL FALLS, 3-0 TO DAYTON IN A-10 TOURNAMENT FINAL

KINGSTON, R.I. - Dayton junior middle blocker Faye Barhorst tallied 13 kills and a blistering .632 hitting percentage to lead the Flyers to a 3-0 (30-22, 30-26, 30-26) victory over Temple in the championship match of the Atlantic 10 Women's Volleyball Tournament, hosted by Rhode Island. Barhorst was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player as Dayton (23-9) grabbed its third-straight conference title and automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Tournament.
Temple (23-10) sophomore outside hitter Yue Liu and freshman middle blocker Patricia Vernon were also selected All-Tournament. Liu totaled 12 kills and 12 digs while Vernon had 13 kills and a .478 hitting percentage in the tournament final.
Barhorst was also named to the All-Tournament team for the third-straight year, joining senior setter Nicole Schott, sophomore middle hitter Robyn Green and freshman Kortney Norris on the six-member squad for Dayton. Schott was credited with 41 assists while steering the Flyers to a .308 team hitting percentage, while Green had nine kills and nine blocks (1 solo, 8 assisted) in the match. Norris added 12 kills and a .385 hitting percentage to the winning cause.
Pairings for the NCAA Division I Tournament will be announced on Sunday, November 27 at 2:30 p.m.
