TEMPLE STANDOUT STEVEN WACKER SIGNS WITH PHILADELPHIA KIXX

PHILADELPHIA -- Steven Wacker, a 2004 first team all-Atlantic 10 Conference performer for the Temple men's soccer, has signed a 15-day/five game contract with the Philadelphia KiXX, announced the club. Per League policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

 

Wacker, a 2005 Temple graduate with Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology, was named the Philadelphia Soccer Seven Academic Player of the Year after his senior season.  He also earned Academic All-Atlantic 10 and ESPN The Magazine Second Team Academic All-America accolades. The Owls team captain and four-year starter enjoyed his best offensive season in 2004, tallying two goals and four assists for eight points.

 

The Philadelphia native capped his career by being named Temple's Male Student-Athlete of the Year at the University's Annual Breakfast of Champions.  He was selected in the fifth round of the 2005 MISL Draft.

 

The 22-year-old midfielder most recently competed with the Ocean City Barons in the Premier Development League (PDL), where he appeared in 13 games during the 2005 season. Wacker joins KiXX player/coach Don D'Ambra, all-star defender Pat Morris, and fellow rookie midfielder Tim O'Neill as an alumnus of Northeast Catholic High School.

 

The KiXX entertain the expansion California Cougars for the second time of the 2005-06 season on Saturday, December 3. The first 5,000 fans will receive a complimentary 2005-06 Philadelphia KiXX Team Photo, courtesy of Baum Printing; there will also be a full-team autograph session on the concourse immediately following the conclusion of the action. Game-time at the Wachovia Spectrum is scheduled for 7:05 pm ET and will be televised live on CN8, The Comcast Network beginning at 7:00 pm ET.
