JACKSON PACES OWLS AT JACK PYRAH INVITATIONAL

HAVERFORD, PA -- Senior David Jackson won one event and finished second in another to lead the Temple men's indoor track and field team at the season-opening Jack Pyrah Invitational, hosted by Haverford College on Friday. Jackson won the 300m in a time of 36.01 and was second in the 55m (6.54). Freshman Jason Sullivan also had a strong showing in his first collegiate meet, finishing second in the 500m (1:07.83).

The Owls had a good showing in the mile, as freshman Mitch Stroh (4:38.43) edged senior teammate Matt Kobialka by .02 seconds, as TU finished 1-2 in the event. The Cherry and White also won the 4x400 relay (3:32.57) and senior Andrew Schultz was victorious in the high jump (6-0).

Freshman Themba Ntini was third in the triple jump (42-5 1/2) and senior Steven Johnson finished fourth in the long jump (20-3).

Temple returns to action on Saturday at the New Year Invitational at Princeton.
