#19/20 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TRAVELS TO STONY BROOK FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT GAME

STONY BROOK, N.Y.- The #19/20 ranked Temple women's basketball team looks to rebound from its hearbreaking loss to Florida with a game against the Stony Brook Seawolves (3-2) on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The Owls are currently 6-1 overall going into their last roadtrip before the new year.The game can be heard live at www.goseawolves.com via either the Listen Live link or Gametracker. In dropping their first contest of the season, and first home game in their last 15 dating back to last season, then #18/16 Temple failed to avenge last season's loss to Florida Saturday evening at the Liacouras Center in a 58-55 defeat. Kamesha Hairston led all scorers with a season-high 24 points and six rebounds. In the loss, the Owls shot a blistering 50% (7-for-14) from beyond the arc, but failed to take care of the basketball in key possessions that resulted in a season-high 26 turnovers.

Candice Dupree leads the Owls in scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.3 ppg and 9.0 rpg. Hairston is second with 13.6 ppg and Lady Comfort is second in rebounds with 6.7 rpg. Khadija Bowens wraps up TU's double-figure scorers with 10.0 ppg.  Bowens and Jennifer Owens are tied for the team lead in assists with 23.

Stony Brook is coming off a 71-62 loss to host Brown in the title game of the Brown Classic. Jessica Smith led the Seawolves with 21 points, 10 rebounds and four steals, while Dana Ferraro stretched her double figures rebounding streak to six games dating back to last season with a game-high 12 boards.

Smith leads Stony Brook, averaging 16.2 ppg. She is also tops in steals with 16. Ferraro is averaging 12.4 rpg to go along with a 7.8 scoring average. Mykeema Ford is the Seawolves' top point guard with 31 assists on the year.

Series History
This is the first meeting for the Owls and the Seawolves.

Friendly Competition
Though this is the first meeting for Temple and Stony Brook it is not the first meeting for Head Coaches Dawn Staley and Maura Mchugh. McHugh served as a coach with the WNBA's Sacramento Monarchs from 1999-2003, a team that Staley faced with the Charlotte Sting. Before arriving in the WNBA, McHugh, Staley and Owl assistant coach Lisa Boyer all worked together as either player or coaches in the ABL.
