WACKER WINS 500M AS TEMPLE FINISHES 7TH AT A-10S

KINGSTON, RI -- Junior William Wacker won the 500m in an IC4A qualifying time of 1:04.67 as the Temple men's track team finished seventh at the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday at the University of Rhode Island. Senior Jonathan Albright, looking for his third straight title in the 55m hurdles, ran the fastest time in the preliminaries but was disqualified in the finals. The host Rams successfully defended their A-10 Championship by edging La Salle.
Freshman Rahmel Huffman also earned all-conference honors by finishing second in the high jump (6'5"). Senior Wendell Raulston placed third in the high jump by clearing 6'3 1/4" and the 4x400 relay of David Jackson, Steven Johnson, Marquise Stancil and William Wacker also finished third in a time of 3:24.60.
Temple also had solid showings in the long sprints, as Jackson and senior Chris Nelson each placed fifth in the 200m and 400m, respectively. Freshman Travis Shelton won the preliminaries of the 55m dash in an IC4A qualifying time of 6.44, but finished sixth in the finals.
Rhode Island (200) was followed by La Salle (154), Saint Joseph's (94), Fordham (94), Massachusetts (93), Richmond (57), and Temple (50). First-year program Xavier finished eighth with seven points.
