TEMPLE MOVES UP IN USFCA'S RECENT POLL

PHILADELPHIA--The Temple women's fencing team moved up one spot from 10th to 9th in the United States Fencing Coaches' Association's poll released February 23. The last poll was released in mid-January. The team's competitive play since the beginning of the season, which includes two undefeated matches has elevated its national status.
The Owls' kicked off their dual meet season January 23 at Northwestern with an 8-2 finish. The season has also consisted of an undefeated match (5-0) at the Johns Hopkins Tournament in late January, a clean sweep of the competition (3-0) at their home quad-meet in early February, and play (0-2) against Princeton and crosstown rivals, Penn, in mid February. The team's overall season record stands at 17-8.
The 9th ranked Temple squad last competed February 12 at its three-weapon meet against seven other universities. Like all of their competition this season, the event consisted of mostly nationally ranked teams. Of the seven teams six were nationally ranked. The Owls finished 1-4.
The women's fencing team will travel to Haverford, Pa. to compete Saturday, February 26th, in the NIWFA Championships.
