DUPREE NAMED OWLSPORTS.COM ATHLETE OF THE MONTH FOR JANUARY

PHILADELPHIA - Junior center Candice Dupree of the women's basketball team has been named the Owlsports.com Athlete of the Month for the month of January. Dupree averaged team-highs of 17.0 ppg, 9.5 rpg and 2.5 blocks per game in leading the Owls to a 10-0 overall record and 9-0 in the A-10, a #22 national ranking and continue a 14-game winning streak during the month.
The Tampa native was twice named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week and Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week after leading the Owls to their second victory over a ranked opponent and a program-first national ranking. Against #25 Richmond, Dupree scored a career-high 31 points, including 18 in the first half, and grabbed 12 boards to give Temple an 82-62 win at the Robins Center. Against GW, Dupree earned her league-leading ninth double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds to give Temple its first win over GW in three years.
For the season, the junior leads the league in rebounding and field goal percentage and leads the Owls in scoring (16.5 ppg.), rebounding (9.5 rpg), blocks (42) and steals (49).
