WACKER PACES OWLS AT UMES HAWK GAMES

PRINCESS ANNE, MD -- Junior William Wacker won the 400m in a season-best time of 50.37 as Temple competed at the unscored Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawk Games on Saturday. The Owls competed against Towson, Loyola (Md.), Salisbury and the host UMES Hawks.
Temple had a flurry of second place finish in the field events, with senior Brian Reed (shot put, 12.63m), senior Steven Johnson (long jump, 6.35m), and junior Andrew Schultz (high jump, 1.83m) all taking silver in their respective events. Senior Jonathan Albright ran a season-best time (8.10) to place second in the 60m hurdles.
Other top showings included freshman Scott Facey in the 400m (3rd, 51.42) and freshman Anthony DeJesus in the 800m (3rd, 2:04.43). Senior Chris Nelson also turned in a third place performance in the 200m (23.07).
The Cherry and White returns to action on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11-12, at the Thompson Invitational at the University of Delaware. The event is the final tune-up before the Atlantic 10 Championships, held February 19 and hosted by Rhode Island.
