BOCA RATON, FL -- Boston College scored six runs in the first inning and coasted to a 10-0 win over Temple (1-2) on Sunday afternoon at Florida Atlantic. The Eagles pounded 14 hits off five Owl pitchers to improve to 2-4 on the season. Senior Chris Hamilton and freshmen Eric Fritz  and Carl Taylor combined for 6 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for TU.

BC jumped on sophomore starter Chris McCafferty in the first inning. Dave Preziosi (3-for-4) had a leadoff single and Drew Locke walked to put runners on first and second with one out. The Eagles put on a successful double-steal and Preziosi scored as junior catcher Marc Wagner's throw sailed into left field to put BC ahead 1-0.

Jason Delaney (3-for-4, 4 RBI) followed with a double to plate Locke and Jared McGuire (3-for-4) slammed a homerun to right field to give the Eagles a 4-0 lead. Boston College loaded the bases on a single, walk and hit by pitch to chase McCafferty and the Eagles scored two more runs on a wild pitch and double steal.

The Eagles added four runs in the second off junior Tim Andrel, three on a homer from McGuire. Hamilton replaced Andrel in the second and pitched 3 2/3 innings and struck out five batters. Fritz tossed two scoreless innings and Taylor pitched the ninth without allowing a run.

Joe Martinez (1-1) scattered four hits in six innings, while striking out 11, to earn the win. McCafferty (0-1) took the loss in his Temple debut.

Temple concludes a two-game series with BC on Monday at 2 p.m. at Florida Atlantic.
