BOCA RATON, FL -- Senior Jason Connor turned a triple play in the third inning and went 3-for-4 at the plate but his performance was overshadowed in a 9-4 loss to Boston College (3-4) at Florida Atlantic on Monday. The Owls (1-3) had a 4-2 lead after three innings but a six-run fourth for the Eagles opened up the game.

With the bases loaded in the third inning, BC's Jared McGuire hit a line drive to Connor. The senior stepped on second and threw to first to complete the triple play.

TU got on the board first for the first time this season, scoring two runs in the opening frame. Freshman Devon Swope doubled down the third-base line and scored on a Connor RBI single. After stealing second, Connor scored on a senior Mike Weckenman single.

Boston College scored single runs in the second and third innings, but Temple answered with two runs in the bottom of the third. Senior Justin Cooper and Connor singled to start the inning and advanced on a sophomore Dan Brady  sacrifice bunt. A walk to Weckenman with the bases loaded drove in Cooper and senior Matt Lafferty lofted a sacrifice fly to plate Connor and give the Owls a 4-2 lead.

The Eagles broke the game open by plating six in the fourth, with the big hit being a three-run triple from Jared McGuire. BC added an insurance run in the sixth to produce the final.

Freshman Steve Develin took the loss for Temple, throwing three plus innings and allowing six runs. Matt Meyer earned the win, tossing seven innings and striking out nine. Weckenman threw two scoreless innings of relief, striking out three.

Temple opens a two-game series with Wagner on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Florida Atlantic.
