MEN'S TRACK SPLITS SQUAD AT DUKE AND DELAWARE INVITATIONALS

DURHAM, NC -- The Temple men's outdoor track team sent competitors to the Duke and Delaware Invitational this weekend and returned with promising results. Junior David Jackson sprinted to a time of 11.14 to win his heat in the 100m dash while Andrew Fries just missed IC4A qualifying standards in the javelin with a throw of 189'4" at Duke.
Freshman Marcos Edghill finished second in his heat in the 100m (11.49) and both freshman Scott Facey and junior William Wacker had strong showings in the 400m. Facey won his heat in a time of 49.23 and Wacker was right behind him with a time of 49.44. The 4x400 relay also posted a season-best time of 3:18.13.
Head coach Stefanie Scalessa split her squad, sending individuals to the nearby Delaware Invitational and finished fifth. Varnell Wright finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 41'8 1/2".
Temple returns to action next weekend at the Morgan State Invitational.
