PHILADELPHIA -- Temple fell behind 7-0 after two innings and saw its losing streak reach ten games with a 10-4 non-conference loss to La Salle at Hank DeVincent Field on Tuesday. Sophomore Dan Brady had two hits, including a double, to pace the Owls at the plate while junior Tim Andrel tossed 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.

La Salle (12-17-1) scored four runs on four hits in the opening frame off freshman starter Carl Taylor. Three of the runs came with two outs, with the big hit being a two-run homer from Rich Prall. The Explorers chased Taylor (0-2) in the second with three more two-out runs as a bases clearing double from Fran O'Kane gave La Salle a 7-0 lead after two innings.

The hosts added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 9-0 lead over the Cherry and White. The Owls (7-18) struggled offensively, managing only two hits in the first six innings off Explorer starter Brandon Geib (1-2). TU got on the board in the seventh when a RBI single from senior Matt Lafferty, in his first action since breaking his foot in Florida, scored Brady, who had doubled.

Temple added three runs in the ninth as Brady and freshman Frank Nunan singled to open the inning and scored on a freshman Tom Dolan double to make the score 10-3. An RBI single from senior Justin Cooper plated Dolan to complete the scoring.

Brady was the only TU player with multiple hits. Senior Jason Connor extended his season-long hitting streak to seven games.

The ten-game skid is the longest since opening the 2001 season with a 14-game losing streak. That team rebounded to win the Atlantic 10 Championship and advanced to the program's last NCAA Tournament.

The Owls host A-10 East co-leader Rhode Island (12-14, 7-2) on Saturday, April 16, at noon. The doubleheader is just one of many activities at Cherry and White Day, which includes the spring football game at 2 p.m.
