COLON NAMED OWLSPORTS.COM ATHLETE OF THE MONTH FOR APRIL

PHILADELPHIA -- Senior baseball player Pete Colon has been named the Owlsports.com Athlete of the Month for April after batting .377 with seven homeruns and 14 RBI. The rightfielder led the Owls in runs (14), hits (20), homeruns and RBI (14) for the month and launched three dingers in a single game against Delaware on April 7.
The Wernersville, Pa. native hit safely in 12 of 15 games during the month and had six multi-hit games. His best performance was a 3-for-5, three homerun, five RBI showing against Delaware that earned him Owlsports.com Athlete of the Week honors. Colon homered among his three hits at Dayton on April 10 and also went 2-for-3 with a homerun and three RBI at Saint Joseph's on April 23. He had an impressive slugging percentage of .868 during the month.
After beginning the season mired in a slump, Colon rebounded in April and raised his average from .175 to .273. He now has 25 career homers and is tied for fourth all-time with John Marzano '84 and Pete Dempsey '78.Colon is also fourth in the Atlantic 10 with nine homeruns.
Temple (10-27, 3-12 Atlantic 10) returns to the diamond on Wednesday at Villanova. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
