COLORADO SPRINGS, CO-

Staley is a three-time Olympic gold medalist (1996, 2000 and 2004) and two-time World Championship gold medalist (1998 and 2002) and has been involved with 15 USA Basketball teams since being named to her first squad-the 1989 USA Basketball Women's Junior World Championship Team. Staley's dedication and contributions were recognized last summer when the captains of the 2004 U.S. Olympic teams elected her to carry the United States flag during the Athens Opening Ceremonies. Staley, who currently plays for the WNBA Charlotte Sting, also served as a member of the USA Basketball's 2000-2004 Women's Senior National Team Committee and was a member of the USA Basketball Youth Development Committee. She was also recently named the 2004 USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year.

The 10-person Executive Committee, headed by Val Ackerman, the founding President of the WNBA, is part of a larger 25-member Board of Directors. The Board of Directors includes such names as Renee' Brown, Senior Vice President, Player Personnel, WNBA, Big Ten Conference Commissioner James Delany, Stu Jackson, Vice President Basketball Operations, NBA, Philadelphia 76ers President Billy King and Indiana Pacers player Reggie Miller.

Temple University head women's basketball coach and three-time Olympian Dawn Staley has been selected as one of two athlete representatives on the 10-person USA Basketball Executive Committee. Elected by a vote of USA Basketball's active athletes, Staley will serve a three-year term alongside former USA Men's Pan American Games silver medalist Scott Paddock.
