SLEW OF OWLS REACH IC4A MARKS TO COMPLETE DAY ONE IN FIFTH PLACE AT A-10S

RICHMOND, VA -- Senior Jonathan Albright bettered his IC4A qualifying time and finished first in the preliminaries of the 110m hurdles as the men's track and field team is in fifth place after one day of competition at the Atlantic 10 Championsihps. The Owls earned most of their points in the field, taking second in the long jump and discus and third in the javelin.

Senior Steven Johnson posted a season-high in the long jump (23'1 3/4") to earn eight points for TU. John Applegate placed second in the discus (162-0) and Andrew Fries finished third in the javelin (193-02). Both were season bests and met IC4A qualifying standards.

In the 100m dash, junior David Jackson placed fourth (10.73) and will advance to tomorrow's finals. The time was also an IC4A qualifying mark.

It is a three team race after one day of competition. Duquesne (72) leads La Salle (71) and Rhode Island (70) in the team standings. They are followed by Massachusetts (29), Temple (25.5), Richmond (21.5), Saint Joseph's (14) and Fordham (8).

The championships resume at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday.
