FRESHMAN FOUR WINS PRESTIGIOUS IRA TITLE

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ -- The Temple Freshman Four edged out Stanford to win the Grand Final by 0.3 seconds at the 102nd IRA Regatta on Saturday. The Varsity four claimed a sixth place finish in the petite final.
The Freshman Four of Dante Castellani (cox), Tom Haubrich (stroke), Bob Protesto (3-seat), James Harding (2-Seat) and Bill Gennaro (bow) won their race in a time of 6:41.2, beating Stanford who took second in a time of 6:41.5. They were followed by Harvard (6:51.39), George Washington (6:51.56), Yale (6:52.69), and Wisconsin (6:59.6). Temple claimed the freshman four title over twenty-one other crews that raced to qualify in the heats.
The Varsity Four of Mike Fitzpatrick (cox), Andy Mantzoukas (stroke), Matt Hanlin (3-seat), Joe Spencer (2-seat) and Mike McVeigh (bow) claimed a sixth place finish in the Petite Final. Gonzaga won the final in a time of 6:41.71 followed by Cal LB (6:43.14), Harvard (6:43.80), Wisconsin (6:48.21), Minnesota (6:48.22) and Temple (6:52.35).
