TEMPLE VOLLEYBALL ENDS LOSING SKID WITH 3-0 SHUTOUT OF DELAWARE

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple volleyball team (4-6) ended its six game losing streak with a resounding 3-0 victory over the visiting Delaware Blue Hens on Tuesday night. Temple, which is currently 4-0 on its home McGonigle court, defeated the Blue Hens 30-21, 30-25 and 30-14.
The Owls took an early 1-0 lead after dominating the Blue Hens in game one. The Blue Hens, however, came out with a renewed energy in the second set, climbing back from a 4-1 deficit to take the lead. Temple battled back to regain the lead and was able to finish off the game with a 30-25 result. Temple completely dominated the third game, leading by as much as 11 points early on and then finishing off the 3-7 Blue Hens, 30-14.
Zhen Jia Liu was on fire, earning 21 kills with just one error. She also added 12 digs, the second best tally of the evening. Ying Sun Ling led all players with 18 digs, while Maira Mogollon dished 34 assists. Delaware could find no answer for Temple's offense, which racked up 52 kills and just 15 errors for a .308 attacking percentage. Temple also proved to be dominant on the defensive end, blocking 11 Delaware attacks, while UD was able to block just four.
Megan Welch dished 25 assists, while Colleen Walsh had team-highs of 13 kills and 10 digs for Delaware.
Temple goes back on the road this weekend to the Rutgers Invitational where it faces Rutgers, Fairfield, UMBC and Harvard, September 16-18.
