VOLLEYBALL TOPS UMBC AND FAIRFIELD IN 3-1 AND 3-0 WINS

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.- Temple was able to overcome a 30-23 first set loss, taking the next three sets 30-27, 30-12 and 30-27, and defeat the UMBC Retrievers 3-1 in Day 2 action of the Rutgers Invitational. Christina DeMarco led the Owls with a .519 hitting percentage and 16 kills.
Colleen Egan also tallied 16 kills to lead the Owls to go along with a game high five block assists. Maira Mogollon dished a game high 45 assists while Ying Sun Ling had 12 digs.
In the day's first match, Temple shut out Fairfield 3-0, winning the matches 30-27, 30-25 and 30-27. Zhen Jia Liu blasted 18 kills and 11 digs, while Egan had 10 kills. Mogollon tallied 40 assists and Sun Ling led all players with 16 digs.
Temple ( 6-7) wraps up play tomorrow against Harvard.
