PHILADELPHIA -- Temple welcomed Saint Louis to the Atlantic 10 with a 3-0 victory on Friday night at McGonigle Hall in the conference opener for both teams. After winning the opening game 30-20, the Owls earned hard-fought victories in the next two games, 30-28 and 31-29, for their fourth straight win. Temple (8-7, 1-0) also passed the .500 mark for the first time since September 3.

Senior Zhen Jia Liu paced a balanced attack with nine kills, followed by sophomores Yue Liu (eight kills) and Christina DeMarco (seven). Junior Maira Mogollon had 27 assists for the Cherry and White.

Both teams came out hot in the early going, but it was Temple's .531 hitting percentage that carried them to a 30-20 win in game one. The Owls posted .200 and .265 percentages in games two and three, respectively, to hold off the Bilikins (5-8, 0-1), who joined the league from Conference USA.

SLU's Tatyana Menshikova had a match-high 17 kills, while Angela Powers added 14. Lauren Boissevain had a match-high 32 assists for the visitors.

Temple hosts Duquesne tomorrow at 4 p.m. at McGonigle Hall.
