VOLLEYBALL RUNS WIN STREAK TO FIVE WITH 3-0 WIN OVER DUKES

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple made quick work of visiting Duquesne on Saturday, dispatching the Dukes, 3-0, in Atlantic 10 volleyball action at McGonigle Hall. The win was the fifth straight for the Owls and is the longest since posting 15 consecutive victories in 2003. TU, which improves to 9-7 (2-0 A-10), won 30-20, 30-21 and 30-13.
Senior Zhen Jia Liu recorded a match-high 14 kills and was joined in double-digits by sophomore Yue Liu and freshman Patricia Vernon. Maira Mogollon handed out a match-high 35 assists and Yue Liu was the only Owl to reach double-digit digs with 10.
For the second straight day, Temple came out swinging, posting a .519 hitting percentage in the opener. The hosts did not disappoint in games two or three, hitting .302 and .407, respectively, to improve to 30-2 all-time against Duquesne (8-6, 1-1).
Diana Wuebker and Amanda Haeg each had eight kills for DU. Kristin Garnett dished out 25 assists.
Temple hosts La Salle on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
