VOLLEYBALL WRAPS UP HOFSTRA INVITATIONAL WITH 3-1 LOSS TO MIAMI (OH)

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.- The Temple women's volleyball team wrapped up a tough weekend of competition at the Hofstra Invitational with a 3-1 loss to Miami University. The Owls, who came into the weekend undefeated at 3-0, have equalized at 3-3 on the season, while Miami finishes with a 3-1 record.
Temple fell behind early, losing the first game 30-18, but were able to bounce back with a second game victory, 33-31. That would be the first and last game that the Owls would win, however, as the team went on to drop the next two games, 30-25 and 31-29, respectively.
Ying Sun Ling led all players with 28 digs, while Maira Mogollon chipped in with 15 digs in addition to her 43 assists. Zhen Jia Liu and Yue Liu were tops on the team in kills, totaling 17 and 16 a piece.
Zhen Jia Liu was recognized for her outstanding play throughout the weekend, earning a spot on the Hofstra/Asics Invitational All-Tournament Team.
The Owls look to return to their winning ways next weekend when they travel to Kansas to participate in the Pizza Hut Jayhawk Invitational September 9-10. Temple will face Michigan State and Virginia Commonwealth on Friday and host Kansas on Saturday.
