Temple Falls to Xavier, 3-1

CINCINNATI - Temple dropped its second straight match on its Ohio road trip, falling to Xavier, 3-1. TU took game one, 30-24, but Xavier gained momentum taking the last three games with scores of 30-24, 30-23, 30-23.
With her on-court leadership, junior Yue Liu led the Owls with 21 kills and 21 digs, along with two service aces and two blocks. Junior Ying Sun Ling (11), sophomore Patricia Vernon (10) and freshman Glory Epelle (10) combined for 31 of Temple's 64 kills. Vernon also added five blocks, while Ling led Temple with 22 digs on the defensive end.
Xavier was led by Astyn Bjorklund who had 22 of the Musketeers' 75 kills. On defense, Jill Quayle posted seven block assists and Lauren Kaminsky racked up a match-high 23 digs. With the conference win, Xavier improves to 11-8 (4-1 in conference play).
Settling at .500, the Cherry and White drop to 3-3 in the A-10 conference and 10-10 overall.
TU returns home to Philadelphia to host George Washington Friday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m.
