TOLEDO, OHIO- Toledo's own Kamesha Hairston returns home to her native Ohio as the Temple women's basketball team takes on Toledo in the second game of a two-game Thanksgiving roadtrip. This is the first meeting for Temple and the Mid-American Conference school. Tip off is set for 2 p.m.
Kamesha Hairston had two reasons to celebrate on Friday night. She became the 15th person in program history to score 1,000 career points. This weekend also marks the first time that the Toledo, Ohio native has played in front of a hometown crowd since graduating high school. Hairston's 22 points weren't enough, however, to stop the two-time defending Mid-American Conference champions, who rolled to an 86-67 win and extended their home winning streak to 19 games. Fatima Maddox led Temple (2-1) with 24 points. Hairston led Temple with seven rebounds, while Ashley Morris dished four assists and had three steals before fouling out with two minutes to go.
Hairston leads three players in double figures with 21.0 ppg, while Maddox is second with 17.3 ppg. Lady Comfort is third with 11.3 ppg. Hairston is also tops in rebounds, averaging 6.3 rpg. Maddox and LaKeisha Eaddy are tied with 10 assists a piece.
Danielle Bishop leads Toledo in scoring, averaging 11.3 ppg, while Reindl is chipping in with 11.0 ppg and a team-leading 9.3 rpg. Nicole Stocks has a squad-high 15 assists.
1,000 point club
With her 22 point tally at Bowling Green, Kamesha Hairston became Temple's 15th 1,000th point scorer. The senior currently has 1,011 points.
