Temple Continues its Home Stand With Game Against Miami (Ohio) on Sunday Afternoon

PHILADELPHIA-Temple (4-4) will look to improve to 3-1 on its home court when it hosts the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks (5-5) on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Temple is 1-1 vs. the Mid-American Conference this season, losing, 67-86, to Bowling Green on November 24 and topping Toledo, 61-51 on November 26. After tonight's match-up, the Owls face Western Michigan on December 19.
Despite taking a 62-58 lead with just over five and a half minutes left to play, sparked by a 14-0 Temple run, the Owls fell, 66-77 to top-ranked Maryland last Sunday. Kamesha Hairston poured in a game-high 28 points and fellow classmate Fatima Maddox added 22 for the upset-minded Owls. Hairston, the Atlantic 10's reigning Player of the Week, ran the entire 40 minutes and swiped a team-best six rebounds. Sophomore Shenita Landry chipped in with 12 points and a game-high five steals.Hairston leads Temple in scoring and rebounding, averaging 22.3 ppg and 9.4 rpg. Maddox is second with 15 ppg. Lady Comfort is third, averaging 10.9 ppg and second in rebounding (6.0 rpg). LaKeisha Eaddy has dished a team-leading 27 assists thus far this season.
Despite Jaclyn Leininger's second straight double-double, Miami University fell to the Illinois State Redbirds, 89-73, Saturday afternoon. Leininger scored 18 points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds, but Miami never recovered from a 31-14 Illinois State run to close the first half as it suffered a 16-point loss. Eve Pyle led the RedHawks in scoring with 19 points and added eight rebounds, while Amanda Jackson chipped in 10 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Jackson leads three RedHawks in double-figures with 15.4 ppg. Jenna Schone is second with 11.3 ppg and Pyle is chipping in with 10.5 ppg and 6.8 rpg. Leininger is first in rebounding, averaging 7.3 rpg. Best of Three
Kamesha Hairston is currently ranked third in the nation in scoring, averaging 22.3 ppg. Player of the Week
Kamesha Hairston earned her second straight Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honor after averaging 23.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Owls. She also had 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals on the week.
