Temple Looks to Go 2-0 in Big Five Play With Friday Night Game at Penn

PHILADELPHIA- Temple (7-4) hopes to stay a perfect in the Big Five when it travels to the University of Pennsylvania (4-4) on Friday night at 7 p.m. The Owls are 42-17 all-time against the Quakers and have won the last three meetings.
Nicole Pittman only had two points in the entire game but she made them count, as the junior's lay-up with 1.1 seconds remaining gave Temple a 68-66 win over the Villanova Wildcats on Friday afternoon. LaKeisha Eaddy had a banner day, scoring a career-high 20 points and dishing five assists and a team-leading three steals. All-American candidate Kamesha Hairston earned her sixth double-double, with 17 points and 14 rebounds.Hairston leads Temple in scoring and rebounding, averaging a double-double of 20.9 ppg and 10.3 rpg. Comfort is second with 13.1 ppg and Fatima Maddox is third, averaging 13 ppg. Freshmen Jasmine Stone and Eaddy continue to put up great numbers, with Stone second in rebounding (6.0rpg) and Eaddy first in assists (45).
Penn defeated its University City foe, Drexel, 60-57, last Thursday afternoon at The Palestra. The Quakers found their first home win with the help of senior Joey Rhoads' career-high 28 points. Monica Naltner added 19 points and co-led the team with seven boards. Sophomore Maggie Burgess was her counterpart on the glass and stepped up as Penn's elusive third scorer, tallying a career-high 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
Nalter leads the Quakers in scoring and rebounding, averaging 21.8 ppg and 7.4 rpg. Rhoads is second with 18.0 ppg, while Lauren Pears is tops in assists with 30.
Tonight is Temple's second Big Five match-up of the year and the Owls are 1-0 after edging Villanova, 68-66, on December 22. The Quakers are 0-2 in city play after dropping games to La Salle and Villanova.
