Temple Volleyball Wraps-Up 2006 Season

PHILADELPHIA - After finishing 16-14 overall and falling to St. Louis in the semi-finals of the Atlantic 10 Conference, Temple volleyball ended their season with a banquet Tuesday night at the Spaghetti Warehouse to honor the hard work of all their players for the 2006 season.
Junior Yue Liu stood out as the on-court leader this year, finishing with 420 kills and 363 digs and the only Temple player to make the 1st Team All-Conference. She was also honored Tuesday night for reaching the 1,000 mark in both kills and digs this season in her three years of play. Temple is looking forward to her returning as a senior and continuing her success as an Owl. Also honored for achieving 1,000 career digs and a spot on the 2nd Team All-Conference was junior Ying Sun Ling who has played three years for the Cherry and White.
Sophomore Patricia Vernon finished the 2006 season with 270 kills and led TU with 96 blocks earning her a place on the 2nd Team All-Conference. Honored by the coaching staff, Vernon also received the Coaches Award due to her hard work ethic and commitment to getting better and to improving the team. Yue Liu brought home the award for most outstanding player while senior Yan Liu was able to take away the Most Improved Player for the season and her career at Temple.
Senior Maira Mogollon graduated with being honored by the coaches for the Spirit award due to her positive attitude over her career as an Owl and leadership role as the setter. Junior Katrina Mullins has done an outstanding job balancing athletics and academics to achieve the Academic Award for the 2006 season.
The banquet provided a time to honor the players for their success this season and thank the seniors who have given so much of themselves to the team.
