DUPREE'S 24 LEADS #23/22 TEMPLE OVER DAYTON, 70-36

DAYTON, OH - Candice Dupree netted 24 points, including 16 in the first half, to lead #23/22 Temple to a 70-36 win over the Dayton Flyers on Sunday afternoon in Ohio. Dupree added eight rebounds, two blocks, two steals and two assists to her all-star performance. Temple improves to 20-6 overall and 11-3 in the A-10, while Dayton falls to 16-9 and 8-6.

Dupree put on a clinic in the first half, scoring 16 points, including 14 in a span of six minutes. Temple took an early 4-0 lead but Jennifer Strong hit a trey at 18:32 to make it 4-3. TU was able to hold a one point edge for the next two minutes until multiple turnovers by both teams allowed the score to become dead even at eight with just over 15 minutes to go. The Owls went on a 4-0 run to make it 12-8 with 14 to go but back to back treys by the Flyers gave the game back to Dayton (14-12) by 12:16. The Owls were able to battle back, going on an 11-0 run, including six by Dupree, and take a 30-19 lead by 7:46. A lay-up by Nikki Oakland ended the TU run at 7:24 but the Owls were able to go on a 9-0 run and increase their lead to as much as 20 points (43-23) before going into the locker room with a 43-25 advantage. Temple shot nearly 53% from the field, as opposed to the Flyers' 37% but the difference was really on the boards. The Owls grabbed 25 rebounds, while Dayton earned just eight.

The Owls continued their stellar play in the second half, holding the Flyers without a point until 14:08 and extending their dominance to as much as 35 points. Dayton made just four field goals in the half, while committing 13 turnovers.

Lady Comfort led Temple with 11 rebounds, while scoring eight points and holding Dayton leading scorer Cara Wright to zero points on 0-of-7 shooting. Kamesha Hairston netted 10 points, while earning a game-high five steals. Shenita Landry grabbed a career-high 10 boards and Fatima Maddox dished four assists and added eight points. TU outrebounded the Flyers by a margin of 53-26.

Dayton was led by Nikki Oakland with 11 points, while Jennifer Strong had 10. The Flyers finished with 21 misscues and shot just 26.9% from the field.

Temple returns to home to celebrate Senior Day and its last home game of the regular season on Friday, February 24 when it takes on George Washington at 7:00 p.m.
