Temple began the Albany Tournament with a 3-0 loss to Middle Tennessee State University on Friday afternoon. Junior Christina DeMarco led TU in kills (13), service aces (three), and put up one of Temple's three blocks for the match. Despite DeMarco's efforts, Middle Tennessee State snatched three games from Temple with the scores 30-28, 30-24, 30-21.
Game one went down the wire, with the Owls racking up 21 kills to the Blue Raiders' 12 kills. Senior Yue Liu had nine kills, while sophomore Patricia Vernon tried her hardest at the net with eight kills and two solo blocks. Vernon also added in two service aces to help the Owls.
Senior Yan Liu stood up to the hard-hitting Blue Raiders, accumulating a team-high 12 digs. Temple fell short thanks in part to Ashley Adams of Middle Tennessee who accumulated 18 kills.
