ST. LOUIS, MO - Temple fell short in its second conference game to the Saint Louis Billikens on Saturday. Sophomore Patricia Vernon led the Owls in game one with six of her 12 kills, two blocks and one service ace. After winning game one 30-21, TU fell in three straight games 30-16, 30-23, 30-16.
Junior Ying Sun Ling set the bar for the Owls with 14 digs and tied with Vernon and Yue Liu with 12 kills. Junior Christina DeMarco also put up a fight against the Billikens, posting eight kills and four blocks on the night.
Tatyana Menshikova (15), Sutton Lasater (14), and Lauren Christman (13) led the St. Louis offense racking up 42 of the team's 67 kills, overshadowing Temple's 51 kills. With the win over TU, Saint Louis improves to 2-0 in the conference and 9-5 overall.
Temple drops to 7-8 for the season and even in conference play at 1-1.
The Owls take the floor again on September 29, hosting Fordham at 7:00 pm.
