TEMPLE DROPS FIRST GAME OF TOURANMENT TO UTAH 3-0

SALT LAKE CITY, UT - Temple lost its opening match in the Utah Tournament to the hosts in three games as #24 Utah baet the Owls by the scores of 30-25, 30-21, and 30-24. Yue Liu (13) and Jessica Waybrant (8) led TU in kills for the match.

Game one was a back and forth battle until 24-24, when the Utes ran away with the game with the help of their leading hitter Airial Salvo (15 kills). In game two the Utes came out on a 4-0 and forced Coach Bertucci to take a timeout.

Even though they dropped the second game 30-21 and game three, 30-24, Ying Sun Ling played solid defense tallying up a team high 13 digs, with Katrina Mullins following close behind (11 digs). Christina DeMarco supplied Temple with eight kills and three blocks.

After today's match, TU has a record of 5-3 while the Utes improve their record to 4-2. 

Temple continues the tournament later tonight when they play Missouri State at 7 pm (EDT).
