PHILADELPHIA -
The Temple fencing team will begin its dual-meet season Saturday, January 20 in the Philadelphia Invitational held at Haverford College. The Owls return to the strips following a solid performance at last weekend's USFA North American Cup.
"We are really looking forward to our dual-meet season. We will be fencing seven schools including city rival Penn," said 35th-year head coach Nikki Franke. "In addition, we will also have tough matches against Duke and Cornell. This meet will really help us gauge our current strengths and weaknesses."
In last weekend's NAC, freshman epeeist Kristin Howell and sophomore epeeist Melissa Forsythe each recorded personal best national results placing eighth and 30th, respectively, in the Division I event. In the Junior Women's field, Howell (14th) and Forsythe (17th) again displayed solid performances.
In addition, Owls freshman foilist Melissa Parker turned in 37th and 26th place finishes in the Division I Women's Foil event and Junior Women's Foil event, respectively.
