Last season, it was Temple's time to shine, as the #21 Owls defeated the #9 Scarlet Knights, 48-47, for the program's first win over a Top 10 opponent. The win also ended Rutgers' 20-home game winning streak.

Behind 26 points and 13 rebounds from junior center Lady Comfort, Temple captured its 11th victory in a row, a 66-54 win over Rhode Island, Saturday. Following 38 points and a 52.4 percent shooting clip in the second half, the Owls improve to 15-4 overall. After taking a 28-20 lead into the halftime intermission, the Owls parlayed a 21-8 run, over the opening seven and a half minutes of the second stanza, into a 49-28 lead that never again came in doubt. Senior All-America candidate Kamesha Hairston, despite shooting just 4-for-15 from the field, added 17 points and 10 rebounds for her eighth double-double this season and 26th consecutive double-figure scoring output. Fatima Maddox also contributed 17 points, on 7-for-14 shooting, and dished a team-high four assists.

Hairston leads Temple in scoring and rebounding, averaging 20.9 ppg and 9.4 rpg. Comfort is second with 13.2 ppg and 6.8 rpg. Maddox is third, averaging 12.4 ppg. LaKeisha Eaddy continues to put up great numbers, with the guard fourth in scoring (7.1 ppg) and first in assists (76).

Rutgers saw its five-game win streak come to a close, falling 53-50 to Louisville in BIG EAST women's basketball action on Sunday. Essence Carson was the lone Scarlet Knight in double-figures, registering 14 points. Kia Vaughn corralled 14 rebounds, her 10th double-digit rebounding effort of the season.
