PHILADELPHIA- After averaging 23 ppg, 9.5 rpg and 3.0 apg, senior All-America Candidate Kamesha Hairston has been named the Atlantic 10 and Big Five Player of the Week for the week ending January 28. This is the fifth A-10 Player of the Week honor for Hairston, who lead the Conference in both scoring and rebounding.
Hairston had two huge games for Temple this week, netting 20 points as the lone double-figure scorer against Rutgers and scoring a game-high 26 points and grabbing 13 rebounds to lead the Owls to an overtime victory against Saint Joseph's. In the overtime victory at Saint Joe's, the Toledo, Ohio native netted the game-tying basket with just 29 seconds remaining to send the game into the extra period. She also dished a team-best five assists and earned her ninth double-double of the season while playing 44 of the 45 total minutes. With the win, the Owls remain unbeaten in the A-10 and the Big Five and extend their city series streak to 14.
Hairston leads the Owls with 21.1 ppg and 9.4 rpg.
