PHILADELPHIA- Senior All-America candidate Kamesha Hairston led Temple with 20 points and nine rebounds in just 24 minutes of action as the Owls (10-4) posted their sixth straight win, a 71-37 rout of the visiting Brown Bears (2-11). Hairston added three blocks, two assists and one steal as she led three players in double figures. Lady Comfort scored 10 points in 14 minutes of play, while Candice Borrows tallied a career-high 11 points off of three-for-six shooting from long range. Shenita Landry was unstoppable on defense, finishing with three blocks, all of which came in the first stanza, three steals and two assists.

The Bears were no match for the physical Owls from the very beginning, as Temple jumped out to a 10-0 lead. The stifling TU defense forced four straight Brown turnovers and held the visitors without a field goal until the 14 minute mark. With Hairston taking over on offense and Landry handling the post, Temple soon built a 20-7 lead with just over eight minutes remaining. As the Cherry and White reserves filed in, the offense slowed and allowed the Bears to close the gap a bit (24-14) at 4:42, but the lull was just a brief respite as the Owls responded with an 11-2 run to close out the half with a 35-16 result. Temple shot 53.3% from the floor, as opposed to the Bears who went just 6-for-31 (19.4%) from the field. TU had five blocks, led by Landry's three and 10 steals, four of which belonged to Fatima Maddox.

Hairston struck first in the second half and, after two straight treys by the senior leader, Temple built a 50-20 lead with just under 14 minutes to play. Once more the reserves filed in and played to the 71-37 result, en route to career-highs.

Temple dominated on the boards and in the paint, scoring 40 points to the Bears' 16.  The Cherry and White also grabbed 43 rebounds and gained 26 points off of 21 Brown miscues.

Borrows added a team and career-high five assists, while Alesha Harris totaled career-highs of five points and seven rebounds. Kristie Watkins-Day, LaKeisha Eaddy and Maddox each dished four assists a piece, while Nicole Pittman narrowly missed a double-double with eight points and nine boards. Maddox posted five steals and eight points to round out her performance.

The Bears finished with just a 32.1% shooting percentage. Shae Fitzpatrick was the lone Brown player in double figures with 13 points.

Temple continues its homestand on Tuesday when it begins Atlantic 10 play against Saint Joseph's at 7 p.m.
