Volleyball To Host Duquesne and Saint Louis This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA-Temple volleyball will look to continue its winning ways when it hosts Atlantic 10 opponents Duquesne and Saint Louis this weekend. The Owls (6-15, 2-3 A-10) will take on Duquesne (9-10, 1-3 A-10) on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saint Louis (13-5, 2-2 A-10) on Saturday at 1 p.m. Both games can be seen live on owlsports.com via video streaming. LAST TIME OUT: Temple used nearly a 50% hitting percentage in game three to shut out La Salle, 3-0, on Tuesday. Ariel Pierre earned her fourth double-double with 20 assists and 13 digs. Yun Yi Zhang had a match-high 20 kills and just four errors for a 41% hitting percentage. Yue Liu had 15 kills, while Sun Ying Ling tallied a match-high 16 digs. Jackie Morrison dished 14 assists.
SCOUTING THE DUKES...Duquesne (9-10) is 1-3 in League play after falling to Xavier, Dayton and Rhode Island. The Dukes defeated Fordham, 3-0 on October 5 before topping St. Francis (Pa.), 3-2, on Tuesday night. Jenni Gross tied a career-high by hitting .500 and had a game-high 18 kills. Gross leads the team in kills (240) and blocks (64), while Nicole Wright is second with 231 kills and 251 digs. Amy Palko is first in digs with 287 digs, while Kristen Garnett is tops in assists in 699.
SCOUTING THE BILLIKENS...Saint Louis (13-5, 2-2 A-10) picked up their eighth and ninth straight wins at the Bauman-Eberhardt Center with victories over Rhode Island and Fordham last weekend. On Oct. 5, SLU downed URI 3-0 for its first A-10 win of the season. The Billikens went on to knock off league foe Fordham 3-1 on Oct. 7 to run their current win streak to three matches. SLU took on La Salle on Friday night, the results of which were too late to be included in this program. Bridget Fonke leads the teams in kills (306), while Whitney Behrens is tops in digs (245). Whitney Roth has dished 840 assists, while Sutton Lasater leads in blocks (88).
