Morrison And Liu Post Double-Doubles In 3-1 Win At Fordham

BRONX, N.Y.- Jackie Morrison earned her first career double-double (12 digs, 38 assists) and Yue Liu had her fourth of the season (13 kills, 13 digs) to lead the Temple volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Fordham on Friday night. Temple improves to 9-16 overall, 4-4 in the A-10, while Fordham falls to 10-16, 2-5 in Conference play.
Play was fairly even in the first game, with the Owls hitting .205 to the Rams' .231, and the Cherry and White took the first set, 30-26. Fordham came charging back in game two, winning the narrow match-up, 30-28. Temple dominated game three, earning a 27% hitting percentage, while forcing 10 Fordham errors and putting the Rams' in the negative zone for hitting to win, 30-17. The Owls continued to roll, taking the game and the match with the 30-21 game four victory.
Jacqueline Cowden had a career-high nine blocks to lead Temple defensively. Libero Sun Ying Ling contributed 13 digs. On the offensive end, Patricia Vernon had a team-high 17 kills, while Yun Yi Zhang totaled 13 kills.
The Owls continue their road stand tomorrow, taking on Rhode Island at 7 p.m.
