PHILADELPHIA-Temple used nearly a 50% hitting percentage in game three to shut out the La Salle Explorers, 3-0, in volleyball action on Tuesday night at McGonigle Hall. The Owls improve to 6-15 overall, 2-3 in the A-10, while La Salle drops to 9-14 overall and 1-4 in Conference play.

The Explorers were unable to record any kills in game one, allowing the Owls to dominate and take a 30-18 win. Temple slipped a little in game two and La Salle capitalized, taking the Owls down to the wire, but TU was able to eek out the 30-27 win. La Salle took an early 4-0 lead in game three and battled the whole way through, desperately trying to force a fourth game. Each time, Temple came charging right back, forcing a tie score 10 different times. Down 28-22, the Explorers forged one last upset bid but it was not enough as Temple closed out the match with a 30-27 win.

Ariel Pierre earned her fourth double-double with 20 assists and 13 digs. Reigning A-10 Rookie of the Week Yun Yi Zhang had a match-high 20 kills and just four errors for a 41% hitting percentage. Yue Liu had 15 kills, while Sun Ying Ling tallied a match-high 16 digs. Jackie Morrison dished 14 assists.
